On the 🚢Ekl'alian, Mrs Bobbit declares that her and 🍀Lola must rest, leaving Neka and Lite. Lite seems back to his old self, Neka determines that a combination of Druidic and Prime magic was needed to heal him. He had dreamt of mists, chaos, and intoxicating voices in the mist. The voices did dim when the moon appeared. Coins would fall from the sky, in concentric rings of platinum, gold, and silver. Lite remembers being picked up and carried away by a bird of fire - perhaps ☯Ila?.
Neka suspects whatever was pulled from Lite may wish to return.
😎Bori, following his day of meditation, comes to at a knock at the door. Rubbing his eyes and opening the door, he sees Huluna. Bori invites her in, she sits down on his bed. She asks about him, he insists on getting to know her better. She asks about 🐰Faefina, Bori declares that the thought of her in danger angers him. She asks about him letting his anger run loose, he refuses to give in to the sigil on his wrist. Soured on her, she leaves, followed by invectives hurled by Bori.
Faefina walks in as she walks out, and as Huluna leaves, Bori feels something metaphysical has been taken. He sees that his wrist tattoo is gone. Faefina asks what happened, and after Bori determines he is no longer forced to tell the truth, he relaxes. Bori realises that Huluna took the thing that feeds on his rage away.
Up on the deck, 🧌Gronk sees a large ship in the distance, bearing the flag of the True Way. Del'Sulian sees it too, and mentions that the True Way are the better way. On enquiry, he claims that the True Way would come to their defense should it be necessary.
Belowdecks, Faefina and Bori hear a knock on the door. Captain Hain enters, and sits on the floor. He mentions friction with himself and the crew, and apologises for their difficulties. He discusses his past, and hints at legal flexibility, and offers a solemn oath that 🍀Lola will be protected. He asks Faefina what she is hiding, even from herself. He says he sees shadows swirling around her, and Bori starts swinging to protect her from them.
Faefina mentions the figure in the purple robe in Spanktopia. The captain doesn't know him, but agrees to be watchful. The captain also admits to mistrust of Mrs Bobbit. The captain then tells them that a jade statue of a fanged woman has somehow appeared in the hold since the visit to Spanktopia. Faefina and Bori offer to investigate, and they discuss suspects - they know that Yola is not to be trusted, and the farming family, the Lenthori spy, and Huluna are also likely suspects.
There is one other passenger the captain mentions who he has sworn secrecy about, who should not leave his cabin but has on occasion. The next island is Venetiasec, home of Vehelian café, where Elise may be able to provide some information, on the current situation, but also on the New World and the 🌳Druid Enclave.
The captain also says that Kineeta can be trusted.
Faefina and Bori find 🧌Gronk, and end up regretting asking him to talk to the farming family. They request 🧔♂️Harald speak to Yola.
Harald finds Yola looking worse for wear given his imprisonment. On the promise of fetching his makeup, Yola mentions that the Jade statue might be magical in nature.
Bori checks the statue, and determines that the statue doesn't seem magical in nature, but it is large and someone should have seen it coming onto the ship. Faefina attempts Dispel Magic, it doesn't work. On closer inspection though, Faefina sees, spotted through the statue, what could be celestial runes. The runes spell out a mental command that could bring the statue to life. They go to tell the captain, who is playing chess with Neka.
The captain resolves to throw the statue overboard. With none of the crew willing to touch it, Del'Sulian uses wind spells to maneuver the statue abovedeck, assisted with block and tackle. As the statue is placed on the deck, and a crewmember is placing the last rope, the statue's hand lashes out and cuts the crewmate's neck. At the same time, another crewmate shouts 'Kraken Priest attack!'
Gronk tries to throw the statue but fails
Statue attacks with it's claws, missing twice.
It tries to bite, but also misses.
The Kraken priest's hands light up and it attacks Faefina, but misses.
As it moves away, Fawfina swings with her morningstar, but misses.
Bori attacks the statue four times, hitting three times, one of them critical, dealing 37 dmg. He tries to use his skill to throw the statue overboard but it resists, however it is stunned.
Harald drinks a greater healing potion, healing up 14.
Hitting the statue twice, dealing 20 dmg. Cracks start appearing on the statue.
Faefina uses one of her poisoned crossbow bolts to hit the Kraken Priest, hitting it for 8dmg, and casts Spiritual Weapon, dealing another 12dmg.
Gronk tries to throw the statue overboard again, and manages to force it right to the edge. Invoking it's legendary action, it moves further away along the railing. The Kraken Priest attacks Faefina twice, missing again.
Bori attacks the statue again four times, including another critical, launching it off the ship and down into the sea.
Two more Kraken Priests come to the aid of their comrade.
Harald attacks the closest Kraken Priest twice with his halberd, scoring a critical hit and dealing 30 dmg and tripping it.
Faefina casts Inflict Wounds on the first Kraken Priest, dealing 16 dmg. She then uses her Spiritual Weapon to deal another 10dmg.
Gronk casts Fireball on the two new Kraken Priests and dealing 32 dmg, killing one.
The first priest, seeing his brethren die, screeches, and shouts in primordial, frightening Gronk and inspiring terror in him of the priests.
The remaining new Kraken Priest fires bolts at Harald and Bori, missing them both.
Bori, laughing at the sight of the statues tumbling into the depths, turns and runs into the reminaing new Kraken Priest, hitting it three times and dealing 29dmg. He tries to trip it but fails.
Harald, approaching the remaining new Kraken that is looking worse for wear, attacks and hits twice, dealing 27dmg and slicing through it, killing it.
Faefina, facing the last Kraken, swings her morningstar at it, hitting it for 13dmg and pulping it's brains. What's left of it collapses to the deck, lifeless.
The first mate, seeing the absence of jade statue, points out that jade commands a high price.
The following morning, Gronk and Harald, heading up to the top deck, see Geff, drinking a hot tea. Harald asks why Kraken Priests would have attacked the ship. Geff points out that they are in Kraken Priest territory. Following enquiry of their plans, Harald mentions going to Vehelian café. Geff suggests speaking to Elise there. Geff asks if Harald is feeling better about life, Harald says things are always dark, Gronk points out that the sun is rising, so it's getting lighter and lighter.
Venturing onto the island, Faefina purchases two growth potions. Gronk buys a potion of diminution. Bori buys 10 speed potions.
At the Vehelian café they see Kineeta, talking to a high elf woman in Victorian wear at a table with tea and cupcakes. Faefina, seeing carrot cupcakes, jumps up and starts chatting to them. Kineeta introduces them to her friend, Elise.
Elise claims that there was an attempted murder of the Cast/King Heimermann. At this point, Faefina asks about the man in purple robes. Elise mentions Descradedill'diuot who is staying there. Elise mentions that Faefina's desire to hurt him is ill advised. Faefina promises not to, but Elise sees through her deception. Elise cautions her against lying, and warns her that the prince has powerful people protecting him. Kineeta also tells Faefina to let it lies for now. Elise promises to keep him away while she is there.
Gronk suggests to Harald that they use strong alcohol and his new fireball spell to 'accidentally' burn the place down, but Harald declines.
Faefina runs off distraught, and Kineeta follows. Bori picks up Elise and shouts at her for making his friend cry. Elise casts Cold on Bori, but he continues haranguing her. Elise tells him to go to his friend. Gronk, deciding to warm up Bori, casts Fireball but Elise counterspells it and tells him to leave. Gronk grumpily trudges back to the ship.
Back at the ship, they find Lola. She says she can feel four others gathering to meet the seven already there. Mrs Bobbit encourages this intuition and feels the potential power grow as the druids converge in one place. Gronk and Faefina go to sulk and cry together.
